Hand worked needlerun triangular shawl/fichu, with a repeating large sprig motif above a ribbon of eyelets decorating the scalloped border on all sides. In the main corner there is a lovely floral spray with some nice fancy fillings and some silky threads used to add highlights. The edges have been edged with a machine made picot edge. Whilst the design looks similar to Nottingham run embroidery, it is just a bit too 'folksy' and knowing that this piece came from the collection of a Dutch collector, I suspect that this piece has a Flemish or Dutch origin rather than English.
Condition is very good with just a few broken threads.
19th century.
Quite a bright white colour with a few faint marks.
