An exquisite flounce of handmade Mechlin bobbin lace.  The design consists of a stylized floral sprig at the scalloped hem with seven alternating rows of point d'esprit above.  There has been a decorative tape applied to the top.

Condition is very good with a few expertly done small repairs and two almost invisible joins (please see last image).

Colour - cream with some faint marks; I have not cleaned this piece.

The lace dates from the late 18th / early 19th century.

Measures approx. 252cm x 7.5cm (99" x  3").
