Fine lawn and knitted lace baby bonnet. There is a central medallion at the back which has been finely knitted with an eight pointed star motif and reminiscent of hollie point. The edge of the bonnet has a double ruffle of Lille or Bucks type bobbin lace.
Condition is very good; there is a small tear in the fine lawn near the back, and some of the stitching has come undone.
Early to mid 19th century.
White in colour.
Measures approx. 34cm (13 1/4”) from side to side over top of head, and 30cm (11 3/4”) from side to side around neck.
