A large Honiton application wedding veil, which could also be used as a shawl. It has an unusually deep Honiton guipure border with a turkey-tail edge, and scalloped along where it joins the net - such a pretty feature! Within the lace are large roses and other full-blown flower heads with gorgeous leadwork fillings and bobbin made picoted brides; a sign of good quality work. The machine made net is dotted here and there with small floral sprigs.

Condition is very good with several small breaks in the net and a few reattachments needed in the lace.

Mid to late 19th century.

Ivory in colour with some tiny, faint age marks.

Measures approx. 210cm (82.5") square, so it can be worn on the diagonal (as illustrated) or on the square.

SOLD - £900.00
