Fine Honiton bobbin lace appliqué bonnet veil with motifs applied to a machine made net ground. The design has two rows of floral sprays towards the hem; seven repeated sprays of a tulip or rosebud and six repeats of forget-me-nots with beautiful leaves. The motifs are well made with some raised work and leadworks. The hem is bordered with full-blown flower-heads and drooping buds edged with forget-me-nots and the sides with a simpler floral and leafy design. The top has a tape applied with holes so that the edge can be gathered easily.

Condition is good, with a few small breaks in the net and a repair to one of the large flowerheads on the hem.

Dates from the mid to late 19th century.

Antique white in colour.

Measures approx. 106.5cm x 39cm (42" x 15.5").
