A pair of Brussels needlelace lappets on a diamond shaped machine net ground. The lappets have a light, elegant design consisting of an undulating river with openwork, and small branches of roses and foliage. The edge is scalloped and the ends rounded. The ends at the top are unfinished, and may well have been joined together originally. This type of needlelace was the forerunner of point de gaze; the rose motifs are very similar in design.

Condition is fairly good - there are a number of breaks in the net.

Mid 19th century.

Cream in colour with some faint foxing type marks.

Each measures approx. 57cm x 9cm (22.5" x 3.5") at the widest points.

Price - £65.00
