Exquisite Brussels bobbin lace cap back made using the part-lace technique.  It has a central floral composition comprising large, stylized and imaginary floral elements with some fabulous snowflake grounds, with two edgings along the curved edge of smaller scale floral motifs.  These edgings are of the same period but may have been added at a slightly later date when larger cap backs were in fashion.  The exotic design of the central panel is arranged symmetrically, standing out against a transparent vrai reseau ground.  This is very fine quality, involving many raised ribs and a variety of grounds to create a three-dimensional effect, using such fine threads that cannot be obtained today.

Condition is extremely good with a couple of tiny breaks.
