A completely hand-stitched ladies bonnet of a floral printed cotton, with a decorative and unusually shaped brim. It has a channel along the neckline at the back allowing the bonnet to be tightened by tapes, in the Flemish/Dutch style.  There is an old  card label stitched in which reads 'Noorde Veluwe' which is an area in the Netherlands.

Condition is very good; there is some foxing type age marks - this piece has been part of a private collection for many years and has not been cleaned recently.

Mid 19th century.

The fabric background is cream with three shades of pink coloured printing. 

Measures approx. 45cm (17 3/4") over the head and 15cm (5 3/4") along the back of the neck, when ungathered.
