A hand-stitched bonnet of a floral printed cotton, lined with a plain coarse-weave fabric. It has loops along the neckline at the back allowing the bonnet to be tightened by tapes, in the Flemish style.

Condition is very good; there are some foxing type age marks - this piece has been part of a private collection for many years and has not been cleaned recently.

Early 19th century.

The fabric background is cream with brown, blue and claret coloured printing. 

Measures approx. 39cm (15 1/4") over the head and 40cm (15 1/2") along the back of the neck, when ungathered.
