Exquisite embroidered Appenzel whitework handkerchief.  At first I thought that this piece was machine made as it was so encrusted with embroiderey, and so perfectly done, but, when I looked closer at the back using a 10x magnifying glass it appears to be hand worked to me.  Meticulous embroidery on a fine linen ground with a drawn-thread-work grid amongst the foliage and tiny knot-like stitches decorating the flower petals.  It still has the ink pattern outline showing, so I don't think that this piece has ever been used or washed! 

Condition is very good with some faint marks - I have not cleaned this piece.
