Large hand-stitched needlerun bonnet veil on machine made net, with a picot edge applied by hand. Striking floral and boteh/leaf design. It has a scalloped hem and sides, with sprigs dotted all over. It was probably made in or near Nottingham as some of the motifs are quite angular. It still has its original ID label from the Castle Howard Costume Collection, and has been gathered at the top onto a silk ribbon.

Condition is very good - there are a few breaks in the net.

Dates from the early to mid 19th century.

Black in colour.

Measures approx. 124cm x 100cm (49" x 39.5") at the widest points.
